It sees many opportunities in the emerging .TV domain extension and also in the Chinese (.CN) and Indian (.IN) domain extensions.

merginguniverses pty ltd was founded by Rod Ashcroft, a pioneer of Internet development in Australia. Mr Ashcroft is a co-founder of Web Wombat Pty Ltd, which operates the Web WombatAustralian search engine. Developed in 1994, Web Wombat was one of the first search engines in the world, created shortly after Lycos. Mr Ashcroft raised $8 million in 1998 to commercially develop the Web Wombat search engine and search portal. Mr Ashcroft also developed the website OnlineNewspapers, the world's leading directory of newspapers on the web and the leading Australian tourism websites sydney.com.au and melbourne.com.au.

Mr Ashcroft is a former journalist with "The Age", Australia's leading broadsheet newspaper. He edited the newspapers lift-out IT section, Computer Age, for two years. He has also worked as a radio journalist with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
